About PWCA
PWCA is an independent game studio founded by Jonathan Galimore in Bloomington, Indiana. In Irish folklore the pooka is a mischievous shape-shifter, often a hare as tall as a man. The studio's pooka wears a crown. PWCA makes games no one has played before: old arcade bones with strange new dimensions on top. Its first game, Kaiju Kite Attack, came out on Steam in 2019.

Description
Kaiju Kite Attack is a retro, weirdo shoot 'em up platformer where you fly kites and fight giant kaiju monsters. You steer and fire your kite through the sky while you hop across procedurally generated platforms below, and you protect it, because it may save your life. Six worlds, a lot of kaiju, and a story about avenging your Meemaw. It looks like an Atari and an NES were crossing wires in the garage.
Jonathan on the game
“I told myself at the beginning of production, ‘If I was Miyamoto, this would be my Super Mario Bros 1.’ It's a strange amalgamation of Mario 1, Mega Man 2, and a dash of Cho Aniki. It's also a love letter to esoteric philosophies, late-night monster movies, my grandmother, and Japan.”
What they said
- “One of the wildest, craziest and most exciting shoot 'em ups of the year.” Defunct Games (B+)
- “Crazy shoot 'em up with lysergic colors, weird sprites and quirky sense of humor.” Weird Games for Your Pleasure
